Safaricom pauses plans for 5G and focuses on 4G improvements

The company announced that it has put its plans to launch 5G mobile internet service in the country on hold.

In a recent interview, Safaricom CEO, Peter Ndegwa, said, that the company has no plans to publicly launch a 5G service and instead will be working to further improve its 4G service, updating many 2G and 3G customers.

The company has been conducting 5G trials last year. The decision to put all 5G plans on hold comes after the company’s announcement to deliver 100% 4G coverage across all of Kenya.
