Impact Amplifier Launches Africa Online Safety Platform on Safer Internet Day

Impact Amplifier introduces AOSPlatform to promote online safety, featuring solutions, insights, and funding opportunities.

Impact Amplifier unveiled its Africa Online Safety Platform (AOSPlatform) on Safer Internet Day, dedicated to fostering a safer internet environment for Africa. Developed by Impact Amplifier, the AOSPlatform serves as a comprehensive resource hub.

Tanner Methvin, Partner at Impact Amplifier, moderated a panel discussion featuring beneficiaries of the Africa Online Safety Fund supported by Google.org. These social impact entrepreneurs presented innovative solutions tackling cybercrime, misinformation, child protection, and more.

Prof. Alistair Mokoena, Google Country Director, highlighted the online safety challenges in Africa and emphasized the need for universal internet access. With internet penetration at 38% compared to over 90% in Europe and the USA, efforts aim to bridge this gap while ensuring user safety.

The launch event included a live demonstration of the Africa Online Safety Platform by Heather Mahachi and Lorryn Williams, showcasing its research, resources, and funding avenues. They emphasized the platform’s comprehensive approach to addressing Africa’s online safety challenges.
