The Ministry of ICT, Postal and Courier Services in Zimbabwe has officially opened the door for additional partners to join the Starlink reseller network in the country. This announcement was made via a Facebook post following a media briefing during the Aura Starlink reseller launch, where Hon. Mavetera emphasized the government’s commitment to expanding access to satellite internet services.
During the briefing, Hon. Mavetera stated that the government welcomes new players interested in becoming Starlink resellers, highlighting that the initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance connectivity across Zimbabwe. She reiterated that while the government has not closed the door to further partnerships, it is crucial for potential resellers to comply with local regulations, which mandate obtaining approval from the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (Potraz).
The move aims to encourage competition in the telecommunications sector and to make high-speed internet more accessible to Zimbabweans. By fostering partnerships with multiple resellers, the government hopes to expand the reach of Starlink’s satellite internet services, ultimately improving connectivity in both urban and rural areas. As the landscape for internet service provision continues to evolve, the Ministry’s initiative is expected to drive innovation and offer more choices to consumers.
