The PLP team, led by Executive Director Mumbi N., recently had the honor of being hosted by Eng. John Kipchumba Tanui, MBS, Principal Secretary at the Ministry of ICT and the Digital Economy in Kenya. The meeting was an opportunity to explore potential partnerships with the Kenyan government, aligning with the country’s strategic digital transformation goals.
Kenya, often referred to as the “Silicon Savannah” of Africa, has positioned itself as a leader in technology and innovation. During the discussions, the PLP team emphasized how their initiatives complement the Kenyan Digital Economy Blueprint 2022-2032. This collaboration aims to bolster Kenya’s digital future by focusing on tech talent development, job creation, and ICT for export.
A key component of this partnership is the PLP #1MillionDevs4Africa initiative, which seeks to bridge the digital divide and empower Africa’s youth to become leaders in the global tech landscape. The collaboration is set to enhance digital skills training, create sustainable job opportunities, and drive innovation, contributing to Kenya’s economic growth.
The envisioned partnership aims to foster an inclusive digital economy, prioritizing Kenya’s youth and women as pivotal drivers of economic transformation. Joining the meeting were Albert Kimani, Director of Programs and Strategy; Esther Gatimu, Communications and Outreach Manager; and Timothy Gachucha, External Affairs and Partnerships Manager.
