Empowering African Storytelling Through the MultiChoice Talent Factory

MultiChoice Talent Factory nurtures African talent through academies, a portal, and masterclasses, enhancing film and TV production.

MultiChoice Africa continues to strengthen its legacy of showcasing Africa’s rich cultural diversity through its MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF), a shared-value initiative aimed at developing and nurturing African creative talent. With 17 regional M-Net channels telling original African stories in local languages, MultiChoice has long been committed to playing a pivotal role in growing Africa’s creative industries.

MTF operates through three key components: the MTF Academy, the MTF Portal, and MTF Masterclasses. The MTF Academy is a unique, accredited 12-month programme designed to provide hands-on experience in film and television production across Africa, benefiting 60 deserving young talents each year. These students, selected from 13 countries and trained in regional academies in Kenya, Nigeria, and Zambia, receive mentorship from top industry professionals in cinematography, editing, and storytelling.

The MTF Portal serves as an online hub that connects African creatives, providing a platform for talent to be showcased, industry news to be shared, and opportunities to be accessed by filmmakers across the continent. This pan-African network bridges talent with opportunities, helping grow the African film industry on a global scale.

MTF Masterclasses, open to industry professionals, further develop the technical expertise of creatives through workshops led by renowned experts. With support from international partners such as Dolby Laboratories and FOX Portugal, these masterclasses are offered in various countries, enhancing the skills of professionals across the continent and improving the quality of local productions.

By investing in Africa’s film and television industry, MultiChoice Talent Factory is empowering the next generation of creatives and building a sustainable entertainment industry that reflects the continent’s diverse and vibrant stories.
