The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT), in collaboration with its sponsors, will host the 8th National Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Summit from September 9-11, 2024, at the Mercure Hotel in Windhoek, Namibia. This year’s summit, themed “Building Resilience to ‘Adapt or Die’ in the Era of Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence (AI),” will gather industry leaders, experts, innovators, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss emerging trends and challenges in the ICT sector both locally and globally.
Recognized as the premier ICT event in Namibia, the summit offers a platform for networking, project exhibitions, and the exploration of solutions to critical issues affecting the industry. Dr. Audrin Mathe, Executive Director of MICT, highlighted the importance of this year’s theme, noting Namibia’s recent ranking by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as the ninth most prepared African nation for AI adoption in 2024. He emphasized that this reflects Namibia’s progress in creating a conducive environment for AI and digital transformation.
The hybrid event will be broadcast live on MICT and NBC platforms, offering the public an opportunity to engage with the discussions and developments that will shape Namibia’s digital future. The summit aims to position the country as a leader in the digital economy, ensuring that Namibians benefit from the opportunities presented by this evolving landscape.
