Egypt’s Mobile Subscriptions Surge by 581,000 in June Following Numbering Plan Delays

Egypt saw a 581,000 increase in mobile subscriptions in June, rebounding from May’s temporary decline.

Egypt’s mobile phone market experienced a rebound in June 2024 following a brief dip in May, as delays to a new numbering plan temporarily slowed growth. According to official data released on Thursday, the number of mobile subscriptions in the country rose by 581,000, reaching a total of 58.834 million subscribers by the end of June. This marked a significant recovery for the sector after the challenges posed by the implementation of the new numbering system.

The latest figures highlight a consistent upward trend in mobile adoption in Egypt, reflecting the rapid digital transformation taking place across the country. In comparison to the same period last year, Egypt’s three leading mobile operators collectively had 43.5 million subscribers, underlining the substantial year-on-year growth in mobile usage.

The surge in subscriptions not only reinforces the increasing reliance on mobile services but also signals a promising outlook for further technological integration in the Egyptian economy. As mobile connectivity continues to expand, it is expected to play a crucial role in supporting the nation’s broader digital agenda.
