Safaricom Sponsors 7th Annual Young Scientists Kenya Exhibition with KES 3 Million Support

Safaricom boosts STEM innovation in Kenya, sponsoring youth exhibition and supporting tech career development.

Safaricom Hook has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting youth innovation by sponsoring the 7th Annual Young Scientists Kenya (YSK) National Science & Technology Exhibition. With a sponsorship of KES 3 million, Safaricom Hook is offering both cash and in-kind contributions, including smartphones, merchandise, and airtime for the event’s winners.

Through its Women in Tech (WIT) initiative and the M-PESA Go platform, Safaricom will also provide students with valuable opportunities to build tech careers and enhance their financial literacy skills. This initiative forms part of Safaricom’s continued partnership with Young Scientists Kenya, which began in 2018, aimed at inspiring and empowering youth to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

This year’s exhibition, held at the Edge Convention Centre until 23rd August 2024, focuses on how young innovators are leveraging STEM to address pressing challenges like climate change. The event showcases the ingenuity of Kenya’s youth as they use technology to tackle real-world problems.
