The Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) has taken a significant step towards advancing Egypt’s technological and industrial capabilities by inaugurating a new Mobile Phone Towers Manufacturing Center at its aircraft factory. The center was officially opened by Major General Engineer Mokhtar Abdel Latif, Chairman of AOI, alongside key industry leaders, including Major General Engineer Abdel Rahman Abdel Azim Othman, General Director of AOI, and Major General Engineer Tarek Abdel Fattah Mohamed Hassan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Aircraft Factory. The launch underscores AOI’s commitment to localizing technology, increasing local manufacturing rates, and reducing reliance on imports under the “Made in Egypt” initiative.
At the heart of this initiative is the domestication of mobile telecommunications tower manufacturing, a critical infrastructure component for the communications sector. The new center is equipped with state-of-the-art CNC digital machines for forming and cutting, reflecting the latest standards of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Engineers and technicians have been trained both locally and internationally to operate these advanced production lines, ensuring that AOI meets the highest global quality standards.
The Aircraft Factory’s success in achieving 100% local manufacturing of mobile phone towers marks a significant milestone. By the end of June 2024, the factory had completed the production and supply of 67 communication towers for Etisalat Misr under a framework agreement. An additional 70 towers are currently in production, with delivery expected by the end of September 2024. This expansion in production capacity is part of AOI’s broader strategy to meet the growing demand from major telecom companies in Egypt, including ongoing negotiations with Telecom Egypt for further collaboration.
AOI’s vision extends beyond serving the domestic market. The organization is actively seeking to enhance cooperation with all Egyptian communications companies and to develop integrated smart solutions that leverage Egyptian creativity and innovation. AOI’s national manufacturing capabilities aim not only to satisfy local needs but also to position Egypt as a key exporter of telecommunications infrastructure to both African and Arab markets, contributing to the region’s digital transformation.
