beIN SPORTS’ multilingual UEFA EURO 2024 coverage reaches 1.2 billion viewers, up 27% from 2020.

beIN SPORTS, the leading sports broadcaster in the Middle East and North Africa, has revealed that its multilingual coverage of the month-long UEFA EURO 2024 in Germany has reached a new record of over 1.2 billion cumulative viewership, up 27% on the previous year. UEFA Euro 2020, which reached 0.96 billion viewers for the same number of matches.

The final of the tournament took place on Sunday, the last of 51 matches played between 14 June and 14 July, with Spain beating England 2-1 to claim their fourth continental title thanks to a late goal from Mikel Oyarzabal. The match was watched by over 95.2 million viewers, making it the most-watched match of the tournament. The network’s coverage of the UEFA Euro 2020 final between Italy and England attracted 64.4 million viewers, an increase of almost 50% in viewership.

The semi-finals were particularly popular, with over 54.1 million watching rising star Lamine Yamal, 16, become the youngest goalscorer in the tournament’s history in the Spain-France match, and 54.4 million watching England’s stoppage-time winner against the Netherlands, where England’s Ollie Watkins scored the winner. An average of 23.8 million viewers watched each match across the entire tournament, an increase of more than 5 million viewers per match compared to the average viewership for the tournament in 2020.

Digital coverage across beIN’s platforms, which included all match updates, post-match highlights, interviews and special studio coverage, also helped the network’s social media platforms achieve record numbers, with total cumulative views across beIN’s social media channels rising to 2.6 billion, reflecting a 261.8% increase compared to the 718 million views recorded during the tournament in 2020. Meanwhile, cumulative video views across its platforms increased by 518% from 178 million in 2020 to 1.1 billion views recorded during the 2024 tournament.
