Axian Telecom Joins EQUALS to Promote Gender Equality in Tech

Axian Telecom partners with EQUALS to advance gender equality in digital skills, access, and leadership.

Axian Telecom has announced its membership in EQUALS – The Global Partnership for Gender Equality in the Digital Age, a prominent network dedicated to closing the gender digital divide in tech access, skills, and leadership. Initiated by UN Women and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), EQUALS comprises over 100 partners worldwide, striving to achieve gender equality in technology by 2030.

Through its collaboration with EQUALS, Axian Telecom aims to learn from shared experiences and best practices, enhance team skills through expert research, and forge new partnerships to develop and improve initiatives.

Axian Telecom is already deeply committed to digital gender inclusion in its markets, actively empowering girls and women through various STEM and mobile internet programs. Notable ongoing activities include the Jovia Program in Tanzania, expanding to Uganda, in partnership with Apps&Girls, which has trained over 300 young women in digital skills. The African Girls Can Code Initiative with UN Women in Tanzania is another key project, as well as the Dagan Connectée program in Togo, offering digital skills and entrepreneurship training for 100 women. Additionally, the Inspire the Future Program in Ivory Coast with KS Africa provides secondary school scholarships for young girls interested in STEM.

Axian Telecom’s partnership with EQUALS marks a significant step towards fostering gender equality and empowering women in the digital age across Africa.
