Airtel Kenya has announced significant advancements in its network expansion and introduced new Unlimited Home Broadband 5G Data Plans during a recent business update event.
Managing Director Ashish Malhotra highlighted the company’s network growth since launching its 5G network in mid-2023. Airtel Kenya has nearly doubled its 5G footprint, increasing from 372 sites in 16 counties to over 690 sites in 39 counties and 285 wards. The company plans to add approximately 1,000 new sites in its most ambitious rollout yet, with 480 new sites already completed, focusing on improving urban indoor coverage and extending services to rural areas, particularly in the North Eastern region.
In response to the rising demand for reliable home internet, Airtel Kenya launched new Unlimited Home Broadband 5G Data Plans. These plans offer 10 Mbps for KES 3,500/month, 20 Mbps for KES 5,000/month, and 30 Mbps for KES 6,500/month. The plans include an Airtel 5G router, now priced at KES 2,999, down from KES 9,999, featuring a power backup for up to 5 hours of connectivity during outages.
Airtel Kenya’s initiatives aim to enhance digital inclusion and bridge the digital divide, providing new opportunities for Kenyans in the digital age.
