Safaricom Ethiopia Begins Local Manufacturing of Telecom Infrastructure

Safaricom Ethiopia starts local manufacturing with 68 telecom towers from Woda Metal plc to enhance network expansion.

In a significant development, Safaricom Ethiopia has commenced the localization of its infrastructure manufacturing. CEO Wim Vanhelleputte attended a handover ceremony at Woda Metal plc headquarters in Tefki town, marking the receipt of the first batch of 13 locally manufactured telecom towers.

Safaricom has ordered a total of 68 network towers from Woda Metal plc, the first Ethiopian company to produce such towers.

This is a historic moment for Safaricom in Ethiopia as we have started the localization of the manufacturing of our infrastructure. The quality of their towers is good; their galvanization plant is the biggest in East Africa and their cost-effectiveness will enable us to expand our network more efficiently and effectively.

Wim Vanhelleputte, CEO, Safaricom Telecommunications Ethiopia PLC

We are proud to be the first local company to supply telecom towers to Safaricom Ethiopia. Our growth depends on your confidence in us; therefore, we would like to thank you for engaging with us.
