The Ministry of Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy in the Republic of Kenya has released its Strategic Plan for the years 2023 to 2027. This plan aims to provide a coordinated and integrated approach to fulfill the ministry’s mandate, focusing on key pillars identified as Health, Housing and Settlement, Agriculture, Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Digital Superhighway, and Creative Economy.
One of the primary objectives of the plan is to strengthen the innovation ecosystem and promote wider adoption of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to enhance productivity and competitiveness across society while generating productive employment opportunities.
The plan outlines a shared vision, mission, core values, strategic objectives, and strategies for effective implementation. It emphasizes the importance of leveraging local content development and creating employment opportunities, particularly through initiatives like Studio Mashinani, which will be established in all counties. Additionally, the plan underscores the significance of capacity building for mass media skills practitioners to drive skill revolution anchored in science, technology, and innovation.
