Airtel Uganda Awards Top Students, Fostering Education, and Community Development

Airtel Uganda honors outstanding pupils, providing secondary school kits, emphasizing the ongoing commitment to education and community.

Uganda’s First 5G Network, Airtel Uganda, has announced the awarding of 14 top-performing pupils from our adopted schools in the recently released Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) results. The award ceremony took place at the Airtel Uganda offices, emphasizing the commitment to education and community development.

This initiative, now in its 9th year, underscores the importance of collaboration between the private sector and educational institutions in creating a conducive learning environment. Airtel Uganda Managing Director, manoj murali, extended congratulations to the outstanding learners, dedicated teachers, and entire school communities involved in the Adopt a School program.

The secondary school start-up kits provided to the top performers include essentials such as a suitcase, mattress, pillow, bedsheets, mosquito net, school bag, scholastic materials, Airtel-branded goodies, and more. This initiative reflects Airtel Uganda’s dedication to supporting education, empowering communities, and creating positive change.

We recognize the importance of access to education and consistently strive to foster partnerships under our Airtel Cares CSR program. We touch lives across three key pillars: Education, Financial Inclusion, and Health.

In 2021, Airtel partnered with UNICEF to promote digital education by connecting schools to the internet and ensuring free access to learning platforms in Uganda and other Airtel Operating Countries. This commitment continued in 2023, with partnerships extending digital learning to select schools and the establishment of Digital Community Centers across the country.

Mr. Ojulong Francis, Head Teacher of St. Ponsiano Kyamula Primary School, expressed gratitude for Airtel Uganda’s commitment to academic excellence and eliminating hindrances to children’s education. The celebration serves as a testament to the collective effort of students, teachers, parents, and everyone involved in shaping the success of young minds.

Airtel Uganda remains dedicated to fostering a culture of academic excellence through initiatives like Adopt a School, digital learning partnerships, and the establishment of Digital Community Centers. The goal is to ensure that every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
