Airtel Africa has announced its half-year results, ending on September 30, 2023, showcasing robust operational performance with substantial growth in constant currency revenue and EBITDA.
During the first half of the year, Airtel Africa witnessed a noteworthy 9.7% surge in its total customer base, reaching an impressive 147.7 million. This expansion was primarily driven by the increased adoption of mobile data and mobile money services, resulting in a remarkable 23.0% rise in data customers, totaling 59.8 million, and an impressive 23.1% increase in mobile money customers, reaching an impressive 36.5 million.
A strong performance, despite a challenging macro environment, is testament to the dedication of our colleagues across Airtel Africa’s 14 markets. During the period, we have continued to touch lives across Africa, investing in data capacity and expanding our reach to bring digital and financial inclusion to more communities, while also rolling out our landmark partnership with UNICEF to increase children’s access to education. I extend my sincere gratitude to all our colleagues for their continued contributions which have made these achievements possible.
