Malawi University Establishes Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Humanistic STEAM Education

MUST launches Centre of Excellence promoting Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies and humanistic Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.

The Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) has announced the establishment of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and STEAM (CAIST). CAIST is a Centre of Excellence championing the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) and promoting humanistic Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM). CAIST will offer education, technical, policy and strategy products and services in emerging technologies such Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning,
Data Science, Data Analytics, Internet of Things etc, which are based on (and promote) humanistic STEAM education and research.

The Centre will be launched in October this year at a date to be announced later. MUST appreciates the support from all stakeholders, too numerous to mention by name, who took part in the formulation and establishment of the Centre. However, a special mention is made of a Consortium of the USA universities that include Baylor College of Medicine, Texas Tech University, Morehouse College, Colorado University, Georgia Southern University, Clemson University, New York University and Mercer University, for their pedagogical and technical support for the Centre.
