The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has unveiled its industry statistics, showcasing robust growth in internet usage and broadband penetration. August 2023 saw an impressive surge in internet data consumption, reaching 655,879.86 terabytes. This upward trend, from 615,207.39 terabytes in July and 587,865.58 terabytes in June, underlines the nation’s increasing reliance on digital connectivity for work, education, and leisure.

Broadband penetration remains strong, with 86,993,472 subscriptions recorded in August, following closely behind July’s 89,730,341. This equates to a 45.57% penetration rate, signifying that almost half of Nigeria’s population enjoys high-speed internet access. The figures reflect the government’s concerted efforts to expand digital accessibility across the nation.
