MAZIV appoints Junaid Munshi as Chief Commercial Officer to drive growth and strategic expansion in South Africa’s telecom market.

MAZIV, the parent company overseeing Vumatel and Dark Fibre Africa (DFA), has unveiled Junaid Munshi as its new Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). This strategic move is aimed at upholding the company’s impressive expansion within South Africa’s competitive market.

With its inception in 2014, Vumatel has successfully connected almost two million homes across South Africa, in addition to offering free, unlimited 1gbps fibre connections to over 700 schools. Meanwhile, DFA stands as a top provider of enterprise fibre to major telecom and internet service providers within the country, boasting an extensive fibre network spanning 13,800km. The combined efforts of Vumatel and DFA result in MAZIV being recognized as South Africa’s largest fibre network operator, with an impressive fibre coverage of over 47,000km.

Munshi arrives with a vast reservoir of expertise and a proven history of strategic leadership in the telecoms sector, having amassed more than two decades in senior executive positions. He has consistently exhibited his prowess in driving revenue growth and achieving exceptional outcomes. His mandate as CCO involves close collaboration with the executive team, aiming to define and execute commercial objectives, enhance market presence, and drive customer acquisition and retention. His role also entails identifying emerging business prospects and pioneering innovative strategies to secure a competitive edge in the evolving business landscape.

In his most recent role as the Managing Director at SADV, Munshi demonstrated his dedication to customer satisfaction. His leadership roles in renowned organizations such as Cell C, Vodacom, and MTN have solidified his proficiency in the industry.

Munshi emphasized the company’s strong industry positioning and the team’s commitment to leveraging various growth opportunities.

Munshi’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering from the University of Cape Town, complemented by an MBA from Wits Business School. His unique combination of strategic insight, operational proficiency, and adept leadership is poised to play a pivotal role in propelling MAZIV toward continued success.
