Vodacom Group CEO Shameel Joosub engaged with Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan during his recent visit to the country. CEO Philip Besiimire of Vodacom Tanzania shared on LinkedIn that Joosub briefed the President on forthcoming strategic projects by Vodacom Tanzania Plc. He thanked President Suluhu for policy changes that removed specific levies on mobile financial services and reduced right-of-way fees for fiber deployment. In return, the President acknowledged Vodacom Tanzania Plc’s significant contributions to the nation’s digital transformation journey, particularly through initiatives like m-mama that have had a meaningful societal impact.

Joosub also met with Dr. Jabiri Bakari, the director general of the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority, to discuss various sector-related matters during his visit. These engagements underline Vodacom’s dedication to Tanzania’s technological advancement and its commitment to fostering positive change through digital initiatives.
