Sierra Leone’s New Tech Minister Outlines Vision for Digital Transformation

Minister Salima Mormorna Bah aims to drive tech-driven progress and partnerships for Sierra Leone’s development.

Sierra Leone’s new Minister of Communication, Technology, and Innovation, Salima Mormorna Bah, unveiled her vision for creating a tech ecosystem to drive transformation in the country. Appointed by President Julius Maada Bio, Bah aims to promote technology-driven programs to foster development.

During her outreach to the tech sector, Bah emphasized her plans to upgrade communication infrastructure and support content creators. She stressed the importance of strategic partnerships to enable digital content creators to access revenue opportunities and platform monetization.

Bah met with telecom leaders from QCell Salone Pride and Orange Sierra Leone to boost access and reduce the cost of mobile internet services. The discussions explored potential partnerships to advance the government’s digital transformation agenda, focusing on creating opportunities for youth employment and digital learning.

As part of her ministerial responsibility, Bah aims to be accessible to young women, inspiring them to contribute to governance actively. She is determined to push forward the country’s digital transformation strategy and implement solutions that enhance the lives of all Sierra Leoneans.
