Telkom Recognized as the 2023 Top Employer in South Africa

Telkom Group have announced that they have been named the 2023 Top Employer in South Africa by the Top Employers Institute.

Telkom Group has been named a 2023 Top Employer in South Africa by the Top Employers Institute. Being recognised as a “Top Employer” confirms Telkom’s dedication to a better world of work as well as its excellent HR policies and people practices.

Over the past few years, Telkom Group has been on a journey to transform its internal culture while allowing its individual business units (Gyro, Openserve, Telkom Consumer and BCX) to also embrace their own, unique ways of working.

Telkom Group Chief Human Resources Officer, Melody Lekota believes Telkom has managed to clinch the title because its internal structure encourages employees to be as effective and innovative as possible.

We’re dedicated to balancing our investment in people, processes, physical environment, and technology. Our focus is sustainable, it drives our culture, and it reminds each of us that our individual actions, compounded over time, will have a significant impact for our teams, business units, the entire organisation, customers and stakeholders.

The Top Employers Institute programme certifies organisations based on the results of its HR Best Practices Survey. The survey covers six HR domains consisting of 20 topics, including people strategy, work environment, talent acquisition, learning, diversity, equity and inclusion and wellbeing.

The Telkom Group performed well across these categories, rated against international standards, thanks to the performance management strategy, in-depth organisational surveys, dedicated upskilling, and online learning platforms as well as the implementation of a hybrid work model.

The HR team at Telkom has been working diligently to transform our people offerings and solutions. We have acted on insights to ensure that our people-policy frameworks, interventions, programmes, and systems support the sustainability of our organisation in a changing landscape.

This certification signifies that we are on the right track, and our investments are paying off, while also aligning to industry and international benchmarks. It is further testimony that the HR team is dedicated to evolving. I am so proud of how far we have come and where we are going.
