The new office will support customers to innovate, lower their IT costs, and grow their organisations by leveraging the cloud. We look forward to fostering the country’s pioneering spirit alongside our customers by helping them accelerate their digital transformation and deliver innovative new products and services to the South African economic landscape.

Chris Erasmus, Country Manager, AWS

Google as a hyperscaler has had a presence in Africa for a while. We have big cloud customers that we serve and this [the data center plan] is about increasing our capacity to serve these customers. While I can’t share market share-related statistics, Google Cloud is a sustainable business that keeps growing in Africa.

Dr. Alistair Mokoena, South Africa Country Director, Google and Professor of Practice
