Vodacom Mozambique Moves to VMware Cloud

Vodacom Mozambique has announced that they have transitioned to virtualised VMware infrastructure for its IT and telecommunications private clouds.

Leading African telecom, Vodacom Mozambique moved to a VMware solution-based Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) platform for its telecommunications cloud.

“VMware has enabled us to have a faster time to market because we can now deploy customer solutions as required. Our team has done tremendous work to come to grips with the technology and provide an integrated experience for our internal clients to develop products quicker.”

Eduardo Cid de Morais, IT Systems Manager, Vodacom Mozambique

The African mobile market is dynamic and competitive, requiring service operators to be highly agile and fast to respond to competitors’ service offerings. As a result, Vodacom Mozambique wanted to take control of network innovation to help create new business models and accelerate time-to-market. Working with VMware, the operator virtualised its IT infrastructure, and is now moving to a VMware solution-based Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) platform for its telecommunications cloud. Vodacom Mozambique is the first Vodafone subsidiary on the African continent to deploy such a comprehensive virtualization solution for its telco cloud.
