PremiumFree, a free to air satellite television service is now available in South Africa. Earlier, it could only be accessed in Ghana and Nigeria.

PremiumFree, the free-to-air satellite television, has announced its launch in South Africa. While the platform has been available in Ghana and Nigeria since 2018, the new service expects to cover the whole of South Africa. PremiumFree uses Intelsat’s IS20 satellite and can now be accessed with 40 million installed satellite dishes.

“Broadcasting unencrypted not only means that the service can be offered free of charge, it also means that the channels can be instantly received on dishes and decoders already owned, installed, and connected. It’s all about instant reach for us and with no extra equipment or cost for the viewer.”

Craig Kelly, Chief Executive Officer, AfricaXP

These channels are customised for the African audience and they will cater to a larger genre of sports, entertainment, gospel, kids shows etc
