Bringing together 175 executives from government, as well as the telecoms, financial services, and fintech industries, Mondato Summit Africa will showcase new and exciting use cases across sectors and address the need to innovate and collaborate in order to drive the next wave of digital services. Further generous support for the event is provided by BCI, Vodafone M-Pesa, MFS Africa, FSD Zambia, and Standard Bank.
The host market, Mozambique, has a growing fintech sector, though its digital financial services ecosystem is still in the early stages of development. Yet low financial inclusion means a massive opportunity still for digital services, particularly as policy and regulation in the country continue to evolve and seek to promote fintech innovation and development.
Mozambican politician, humanitarian, and former first lady, Graça Machel will deliver the keynote remarks alongside the Deputy Governor of the Banco de Moçambique, the Director General of ARECOM and the CEO of FSDMoç and Mondato. The two-day conference aims to define terms, study market conditions, and validate assumptions regarding ecosystem maturation, both within Mozambique and across the African continent. Keynotes and panel discussions by industry leaders intend to explore common, continent-wide themes; Delegates will also enjoy demos and pitches from innovative fintech startups during the networking sessions.
The Summit will also host a Women’s Breakfast with New Faces New Voices, with presentations from TechnoServe and ABSA on agency banking and female empowerment through entrepreneurship. Day 2 will focus on aspects of innovation in the digital finance ecosystem, from the phases of digitization in different parts of the economy, to promoting innovation through partnerships and investment. The Mondato Awards finalists for FinTech Innovation and Digital Finance Social Impact will also compete to win for their category.
