StarTimes Africa secured broadcasting rights for Formula E

The Chinese media company StarTimes obtained the broadcasting rights for the rest of the series of all electric motorsports Formula E 2019/20 in 37 territories across sub-Saharan Africa.

The agreement covers the main markets namely, South Africa, Uganda, Nigeria, Kenya and Tanzania, with coverage of StarTimes’ Formula E which will be made available on the flagship linear chain of the Pay TV, StarTimes Sports Premium, as well as its over-the-top channel (OTT), a streaming product StarTimes ON.

W series considering the electric motor switch. The contract includes the 11 races remaining this season, starting with the third run in Santiago, Chile on January 18. StarTimes Sporting Director Shi Maochi said: “Electric cars are the future of motorsport, and I think Formula E has great potential in Africa because it combines new technologies and intense competition. “
